Man dies in buffalo hit

A MAN has died after a station wagon hit a buffalo on a Northern Territory highway.

Police say a 54-year-old man was travelling in a car with five other people in northeastern Arnhem Land around 5am yesterday when it crashed into the beast.

Their Land Cruiser station wagon rolled on the Central Arnhem Highway, 228km south of Nhulunbuy.
