Nazi mug warning

-

AUSTRALIAN travellers to Germany are being warned about attempting to bring home souvenirs with the face of Adolf Hitler and other Nazirelated symbols.

Dusseldorf customs officials have officially warned holidaymakers who might be keen to bring home kitschy coffee mugs with Hitler’s portrait, swastikas and other Nazi-related designs, which are strictly prohibited in Germany.

Such items are freely available in other countries.

“This is not a trivial offence: it’s a crime,” a customs spokesman said.

A 39-year-old man was caught with 13 such dubious mugs in his luggage at Dusseldorf airport, and a criminal case has been launched against him.
