Scrutiny on Netflix
NETFLIX’S self-regulated classifications are being audited by the Federal Government after the streaming giant came under fire for marketing shows that “glamorise” suicide and eating disorders to teenagers.
Both “random” and “targeted” audits of Netflix’s age classifications will be conducted after the Government introduced a pilot program in December that allows Netflix to choose its own age ratings.
13 Reasons Why, a show rated MA15+ that was slammed for its depiction of suicide, was one of the programs audited.
