O’HARA: If you chose to sleep in on marathon weekend you should know that 80-year-old Sean O’Hara put you to shame. Not only did the Coombabah runner come second in his 80 to 84 age group in the 5.7km on the Saturday, but he backed it up with a win in the half marathon the following day. Mr O’Hara is a regular on the charity run circuit and this is the 25th consecutive year he has competed in the Gold Coast Marathon. “Look, don’t get too excited,” Mr O’Hara said.

“I don’t run the whole way. Sometimes I walk and I reckon I even crawled part of the way. But I started and I finished – what I did in between is my business.” JAZMYN: 1949: Sisters Pat and Joan Smith, of Sydney, try to match the glamour of the Gold Coast in daring bikinis on a holiday to Kirra Beach.
