Shock as body found in coal train

- Lifeline, 13 11 14

WORKERS made the macabre discovery of a man’s body while unloading a coal train at the Port of Brisbane yesterday.

The death of the Brisbane man, aged in his 40s, is being treated as suicide.

Police said he probably died as a result of an incident at a mine in rural Queensland when coal was loaded on the train.

The man was found in the wagon after the Aurizon train rolled into the terminal after leaving Chinchilla, northwest of Brisbane early on Tuesday morning. Employees were emptying the coal when the body sounded an alarm.

Detective Inspector Owen Elloy said the man, whose body was “dislodged in a load of coal from Chinchilla”, had not been reported missing.

Industry stakeholders were informed yesterday the man had taken his own life.

However, a full determination of what occurred will be made by a coroner. Det-Insp Elloy called it one of the most bizarre discoveries career.

“It is unusual least,” he said.

An Aurizon spokesman said the man was not an employee of the company. of to his 37year say the
