Plane is hit by drone

A LIGHT plane was damaged after hitting what was believed to have been a drone near a suburban airport.

The plane was coming in to land at Adelaide’s Parafield Airport on Tuesday night when it was struck by an object, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said.

The ATSB said the plane sustained minor damage to the right wing but an initial search of the ground under the flight path had not turned up anything. It said its investigation is continuing and will include examining the aircraft and interviewing the pilot.
