Prop in mix for Titans resurgence

-

THE NRL future of Chris Grevsmuhl is in the balance as the Titans ramped up their bid to bring journeyman prop Brenton Lawrence back to the Gold Coast.

It is believed the Titans are yet to activate an option in Grevsmuhl’s contract to keep him on the Gold Coast beyond this season.

The Titans resurrected Grevsmuhl’s NRL career after he briefly quit the game late last year.

The 24-year-old forward was released from a contract with the Panthers and was working on building sites in country NSW before being offered a lifeline by the Titans.

Grevsmuhl arrived after the season had started and was rushed into the NRL for the club’s Round 5 clash against New Zealand with limited training under his belt. He suffered a dislocated shoulder in his fourth game and hasn’t played since.

Lawrence, 33, has been in talks with the Gold Coast for the past month and is weighing up offers from several clubs, including Newcastle and South Sydney.

The 105kg bookend has experienced a Corey Parker-style renaissance after the age of 30 and the Titans believe his experience can be vital for some of the club’s younger players.
