Nurses off to islands
GOLD Coast nurses will travel to the Solomon Islands as part of a program to improve the region’s health services.
The nursing exchange led by Gold Coast Health will be formalised by a party of six local professionals this month.
As a result of the agreement, nurses will go on rotation to the Solomon Islands and work with staff at Kirakira Hospital – a 60-bed facility on Makira Island that supports more than 40,000 people.
Nursing and Midwifery Professor Anita BamfordWade and five other nurses will leave for the Solomon Islands on July 24.
