Million-plus in Nobby Medicine man in big purchase
A POTENTIAL boutique development site across Gold Coast Highway from increasingly popular Nobby Beach has sold for a million dollars.
The 405 square metre site at 19 Wave Street went for $1,005,500 after seven registered bidders took part in the recent auction.
A Coast businessman with interests in the medical field was the successful bidder.
It is currently home to a two-storey brick building used as a chiropractic centre.
Agent Luke Henderson of John Henderson Professionals Mermaid Beach said the property had held plenty of appeal to buyers because of its location, attracting 47 bids.
“The property is perfectly positioned in the Nobbys precinct with trendy shops, cafes and restaurants while also less than 400m from the beach.”
Town planning consultant Greg Betts said the site would lend itself to a row of three, three-storey terrace units.
“Other options are also possible, including a potential commercial component facing Gold Coast Highway.”.
Based on the zoning, there was a clear indication from the city council for wanting to see higher residential densities than detached housing in this area as it is within a walkup catchment radius to support the commercial area of the Nobbys Beach mixed use centre to the east.
It is on a high-frequency transport route which includes the proposed extension of light rail from Broadbeach south.
Mr Henderson said the site was zoned medium density residential and the upper level of the existing building comprised a three-bedroom dwelling that was being rented while the ground level was home to the chiropractic centre.
