12 charged after raids
POLICE have shut down a drug syndicate distributing ice after arresting 12 people on 76 charges across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Logan.
On Friday federal and state police raided eight separate properties across southeast Queensland, including a Mermaid Waters address.
A 27-year-old man arrested at the Mermaid Waters property was believed to be one of two “main players” in the syndicate allegedly distributing methylamphetamine, according to Acting Detective Superintendent Stephen Blanchfield of the Organised Crime Gangs Group.
Police also charged two men with trafficking under aggravated circumstances, believed to be the first charged under new organised crime laws.
