TOMMY AND PETE KISS AND MAKE UP

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

PETER Beattie and Tom Tate have put their Commonwealth Games tiff behind them.

In a show of solidarity at the opening of the Gold Coast Hockey Centre in Labrador on Saturday, the 2018 Commonwealth Games Chairman and Gold Coast Mayor smiled, shook hands and posed for photos after trading barbs all week.

Mr Beattie was confident they would be able to work together amicably.

“No problem at all, we had a chat, it’s all fine,” Mr Beattie said. “It is one big love-in.”

It was the first time Mr Beattie and Cr Tate had met publicly since it was revealed Gold Coast City Council had bought 1800 Games tickets for councillors at ratepayers’ expense, despite members of the public missing out altogether.

Commonwealth Games Minister Kate Jones said she “brought the love” to the meeting.

“I care very much for both of these men and what I love most about them is that they will always put the Gold Coast and Queensland first,” she said.
