COVE BUBBLES OVER WITH A LOVE FOR CHAMPAGNE
CHAMPAGNE – it’s not just for breakfast.
And it’s a horrible waste when race car drivers spray it all over each other.
These are two insights shared by wine writer and champagne expert Ken Gargett ahead of two champagne masterclasses he will host at the Winter Wine festival this weekend.
Except the brunch classes at Sanctuary Cove this weekend are set to offer tips that do Mr Gargett’s knowledge and passion for wine more justice.
“The classes will be midmorning, a perfect time to enjoy champagne on the Gold Coast,” Mr Gargett said.
“Champagne can be enjoyed any time.”
The former Gold Coast lawyer who has spent the past 20 years writing about wine said there were a few common misconceptions about the French drink.
“A lot of people don’t re- alise how different they all are,” he said.
“People have their champagnes but (this weekend) they’ll be able to see just how much they enjoy other styles.”
Mr Gargett said he will also demonstrate how different champagne varieties can be paired with meals.
“It’s not a quick sip before moving onto something more serious,” he said.
“Usually champagne’s seen being thrown over racing car drivers which I always think is a horrible waste.”
The ticketed events are presented by Sanctuary Cove and will run from 11am to 12pm on Saturday and Sunday.
