Calling for a little help
US President Donald Trump has urged British Prime Minister Theresa May to ensure he gets a warm welcome from the British people before he comes to the UK.
In a secret tape of one of the two world leaders’ conversations that was leaked, the president asked Ms May to “fix it” for him, The Sun reports.
Mr Trump made his request clear in a private conversation with Ms May to plan his state visit. Two million people signed a petition calling for Trump’s proposed trip to be axed. The visit has now been postponed until next year.
In a transcript of the call, Mr Trump is reported to have said: “I haven’t had great coverage out there lately, Theresa.”
She replied awkwardly: “Well, you know what the British press are like.”
