AUSSIE rappers Hilltop Hoods are already grinning like Cheshire Cats at the prospect of singing for and along with a bouncing crowd of thousands under the stars by the water’s edge.

Where? Only on the Gold Coast, of course.

The Adelaide trio will headline the Broadwater Sounds mini-festival at Broadwater Parklands, Southport, during the Gold Coast 600 race weekend on October 20-22.

The Hoods – Suffa (Matthew David Lambert), MC Pressure (Daniel Howe Smith) and DJ Debris (Barry John M. Francis) – made a surprise trip to the Coast yesterday to join drivers Will Davison, Fabian Coulthard, James Courtney and Chaz Mostert for the official launch of this year’s Gold Coast 600 race weekend.

“The line-up’s rad,” Mus- tang driver Suffa said of this year’s bumper concert bill.

Regular visitors to the Coast during the golden years of the Big Day Out, at Parklands Showgrounds, the Hoods’ last Gold Coast show was a headlining stand at the 2014 Supercars race.

“It was huge. Hopefully we can do it again,” Suffa said.

Vodafone Australia was yesterday announced as the new naming rights sponsor of the Gold Coast Supercars street race, the final round of the Pirtek Enduro Cup.

Vodafone is also the naming rights partner of the championship’s Porsche safety, course and medical cars.

Organisers hope recently anointed Supercars ambassador Delta Goodrem will help them extend their appeal among families – and crack the magic 200,000 crowd mark – when she headlines Broadwater Sounds on Friday October 20 before Brisbane rockers Violent Soho, Sydney songwriters Montaigne, Dean Lewis and DJ Trials join the Hoods to crank up the party vibe on the Saturday.

While Goodrem’s Friday co-star is yet to be announced, Supercars CEO James Warburton hinted she’ll be joined by one of her fellow coaches from The Voice, with the smart money’s on Kelly Rowland or Seal.

“Although I’m not allowed to announce it, I can say that we will be keeping it very, very close in The Voice family,” he said.
