Selection goes straight to the Poolman
A TRIO of Giants have been called up to help prepare the Diamonds with the task of finishing 2017 with the world No.1 ranking in netball.
Australian coach Lisa Alexander has invited Kristina Brice, Kristiana Manu’a and Sam Poolman into the Austra- lian squad to help prepare two different Diamonds teams for upcoming international series.
Sunshine Coast youngster Laura Scherian has also been invited in as a training partner as the Diamonds prepare for the Quad series from August 26 and October’s Constellation Cup against New Zealand.
Despite finishing Super Netball runners-up, Susan Pettitt was the only Giant named for the upcoming series.
Pettitt will play in the Constellation Cup which is held on either side of the Tasman with Aussie games on October 11 (Adelaide) and 14 (Sydney)
The Australian camp in Canberra and the international games are a crucial part of Australia’s preparations for their defence of the Commonwealth Games netball title on the Gold Coast next year.
Manu’a, who made her Diamonds debut in 2016, sat out 2017 with a leg injury.
Poolman’s defence impressed in Super Netball with the Newcastle netballer yet to make her Diamonds debut.
