Get set for cold snap
THE strongest cold front to hit Queensland so far this winter will see temperatures hit single digits in most towns south of Mackay from today.
Meteorologist Andrew Bufalino said temperatures had been above average this winter but a strong trough moving through central and south Queensland combined with dry winds and fine weather had caused the mercury to drop.
“This is a real strong and abrupt system to push through.”
The cool change will bring morning temperatures of 8C at Coolangatta and 10C at the Seaway today. Tomorrow Coolangatta will drop to 5C and the Seaway 8C, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
