Rules for a perfect cup

-

MANY people aren’t making their tea properly – and miss out on the perfect cup, an expert claims.

Science writer Stuart Farrimond said tea bags should be infused for five minutes to properly draw out the flavour and caffeine, reach the perfect temperature and for antioxidants to be released.

And using a red cup could make it taste even better, he said, because the brain is thought to associate the colour with a sweeter flavour.

“All too often, we are in a hurry and don’t give our tea the time it needs to brew,” he said.
