US sailors in town

BRISBANE will be awash with thousands of American sailors in the coming week when the USS Ronald Reagan supercarrier docks as part of a joint military operation.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, carrying almost 5000 US military personnel, is expected to reach Brisbane in the next few days.

It remains out at sea as part of Operation Talisman Sabre, an exercise involving 33,000 Australian and US military personnel across numerous agencies.

The crew would partake in “community events” while visiting Brisbane, according to the US Embassy.
