Tallai man angered by roadside memorial

A Tallai man is threatenin­g to remove a temporary memorial to a woman, 57, killed in a crash in front of his house. The woman died and a man was critically injured in the accident on The Panorama on July 9. The angry resident said he fumed when he saw locals had built a shrine of flowers to the woman around a tree on his property.

Justine ambush claims ‘ludicrous’

Justine Damond’s family have hired a high-profile lawyer who says police claims of an ambush by the Australian woman are ludicrous. Ms Damond’s family hired lawyer Robert Bennett, who represente­d another victim of a fatal police shooting. Philando Castile was shot dead by a Minnesota police officer last July.

Party precinct had no cops on big night

Surfers Paradise had no police on the beat the night the party precinct was pumping to Queensland’s upset win in the State of Origin decider. The Bulletin can reveal only two officers were based in the Surfers police station and two car crews were out on the road last Wednesday night. Staffing should have been similar to Friday and Saturday nights where four teams of four officers are on the street and four patrol cars cover the party precinct.

Press and hold your finger on the keyboard until it disappears, then simply slide your finger around the screen and the cursor will follow.
