Germans’ club sale

-

THE German Club has sold off part of the Merrimac site it occupied for more than 30 years.

The 1.7ha parcel, which fronts Gooding Drive, has been bought by a Gold Coaster for $750,000 and has approval for a service station and a fastfood outlet.

The land is opposite a BP service station and the Merrimac Tavern.

Brad Merkur of Ray White Commercial said the buyer had settled and was moving quickly to start construction.

The service station would occupy less than half of the site, he said.

“The buyer will, down the track, look at options for the balance of the land.”

Mr Merkur said the German Club, which bought a 2.6ha site in 1978, regarded the land it sold as surplus to needs.
