FITNESS PUT TO THE TEST AT ZEST

THE path to fitness can often be rocky, but that didn’t stop two locals from taking on the rock climbing at the Zest Lifestyle Festival.

Held at the Broadwater Parklands, Southport, yesterday, the event allowed adults and children to take on fitness challenges – all in the name of fun.

For Carrara’s Juliette Rountree, 23, and her friend Maria Buci, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday.

“I had never heard of (the festival) before. I randomly saw it on Instagram and thought that would be fun,” Ms Rountree said. “I just love fitness.” She said the atmosphere at the event was vibrant, made even better with delicious – but healthy – food.

People took part in hula hooping, rowing, skipping, a mini Ninja Warrior course and even Pilates on a surfboard.

“That was a good workout,” Ms Rountree said of the Pilates, adding they even had great music in between demonstrations.

“I hope they have another one soon ... it’s such a great initiative by council, so many people were there with kids.”
