Libs back Tony award
FORMER prime minister Tony Abbott has secured a resounding victory in his battle to allow rank-and-file members of the Liberal Party a say in who chooses candidates for elections.
Mr Abbott and his supporters will be celebrating the passing of the so-called “Warringah motion” at a special party convention today by more than 270 votes, which will mean preselection for all seats – including those held by sitting MPs – will be decided by plebiscites where ordinary party members will be given a vote.
