COAST WRAP WITH UBET’S NICOLE THOMAS

-

WINNERS

■ Tough grey mare Rosie Posie produced the best win of the day. In the “get out” stakes, punters weren’t holding back, crunching her from $4.20 to $3.40. She wasn’t the best away and had to come via the cape but she rounded them up in impressive style.

■ Princess Roulette just keeps on winning and she deservedly started a solid $2.15 favourite. UBET bookies wrote close to 500 bets on her and one punter was supremely confident, placing $2000 on at $2.10.

■ The Pat Duff-trained filly

Golden Sunset opened $2.80 on the day and punters backed her all the way down to $1.90. She jumped the best, box-seated and under the urgings of Nathan Day drove through to get there in the final 100m.

LOSERS

Queen Cora held more bets than any other runner and it was all one-way traffic for the filly in the final 10 minutes, nosediving from $4.80 to $3.40. The Northern Rivers visitor missed the start, tailed out last and finished a disappointing seventh.

■ Punters thought Falcon Way was a good chance to get the money in Race 2. The Brian and Daniel Guy-trained two-year-old opened $3.90 and sharply tumbled to $3.10. He had to work a little to ensure he wasn’t wide and battled away for third placing.

NEXT TIME

■ The Deagon-trained Mystyko was one of the biggest betting plunges of the day and savvy punters steamed in at the $10 and made him start $3.40. The three-year-old was three wide on a hot speed and only just got beaten by Desirable Lady.

Sidetrip was not short of punter support, opening at $7 and backed in to $4.40. He over raced at the back of the field but still finished second. Deserves another chance.

■ UBET punters were keen to grab the $7.50 offered up on

Venetian Beauty. The $4.60 chance she spent part of the race facing the breeze. She sustained a long wide run and kept coming to clinch second.
