DREAM FUELLING NOAH’S SPARK
NOAH Robinson took up swimming eight years ago to hone his skills as a lifesaver.
Now the 14-year-old is edging closer to his dream of representing Australia in the pool at the 2020 Tokyo Paralymipcs.
The Northcliffe clubbie is eyeing a birth in the 200m individual medley after excelling at school and interstate meets.
“When I was in the under-7s (at nippers) they told us that if we want to do well at the surf races we should probably start doing pool training to be able to handle ourselves out of the surf, being confident swimmers,” he said.
“When I started I really enjoyed it and it felt good being in the pool so I just thought I might keep going for a bit longer and see how it goes. Then I started out competitively and just stuck with it.”
The Sorrento teen has a prosthetic right forearm after he was born with a congenital disease known as Amelia.
But it doesn’t hold the TSS student back in the water, having won a swathe of medals in the pool, including back-to-back titles at primary school.
The success has helped Noah get backing from Variety, a charity that helps kids in need. The financial support helps Noah travel interstate regularly for competition.
