Daley man to lead Blues, says Hayne

-

JARRYD Hayne has thrown his support behind the Blues’ reappointment of Laurie Daley as Origin coach next year arguing the NSW coach had been able to build a strong culture in the team.

Speculation is rife the offcontract Daley will be handed the reins for another year when the NSW Rugby League completes its review of the series next month.

The decision would be backed by Hayne, who has a great rapport with the man he helped seal the Blues’ only series win of the past decade, in 2014.

“I think he does a great job,” Hayne said. “We’re obviously disappointed (to lose the series) but I think he does a great job and it’d be good to see him go around again.”

Even for a man used to the unrelenting spotlight, Hayne found the criticism of both Origin coaches perplexing.

“But that’s part and parcel with the game we’re in and everyone comes out with all guns blazing (against) whoever’s losing,” he said.

“I think after Game One it was Kevvie Walters’ head that was coming off and now it’s Laurie’s and that’s just part and parcel of the game.”
