Strike hits commuters
A BREAKDOWN in bitter negotiations between Brisbane City Council and a caucus of powerful unions is threatening to result in rolling strike action for the next two months.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union estimates up to 800 bus drivers will walk off the job for four hours during peak commuter time on Friday as part of the protected industrial action.
Drivers plan to strike at all seven depots from 2pm to 6pm. The RTBU have until the start of September to continue striking for two hours, four hours or 24 hours during the protected action period.
