Polo Stingers lose to the US
THE Australian women’s water polo team have lost their quarter-final match to the United States at the world championships in Hungary.
Stingers veteran Keesja Gofers’ four goals weren’t enough to avoid the 7-5 loss to the world and Olympic champions in Budapest yesterday.
The game was goalless until the second quarter before world No.1 USA took control, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. The world No.4 Stingers will meet Italy in a fifth-place playoff semi-final tomorrow.
