Dogged Hasler hits back at Ennis

-

DES Hasler has hit back at calls from former Bulldogs captain Michael Ennis for him to be sacked, claiming he had no idea of the inner workings of Canterbury.

Hasler (pictured) yesterday fronted the NRL club’s board as speculation mounted over his future despite this year signing a two-year contract extension.

The premiership-winning coach claimed his position wasn’t discussed, describing it as a regular directors meeting.

“It received more media focus than the G20,” Hasler said. “It was just a run-of-themill board meeting discussing various issues and budgets, boring things like that.”

The subject of his future was raised again after their 30-point drubbing at the hands of Brisbane last week, with Ennis calling for Hasler to be cut.

“In all honesty, his time’s up,” Ennis told Fox Sports’ On The Couch With Sterlo. “They really haven’t evolved, in my opinion, with the style of football they play.”

But Hasler replied: “I think when you’re looking from the outside in, you can’t have that clarity. It’s just an opinion.”

Ennis served under Hasler at the Bulldogs from 2012-14.
