Roberts anxious for deal

IN-LIMBO Titan Tyrone Roberts has spoken out about the “disappointing” nature of his contract negotiations with the club, saying Gold Coast have “stuffed him around” as he attempts to sort his NRL future.

Roberts does not have a contract for next season despite having been one of the Titans’ most consistent players this season.

The club’s injury-plagued year has forced Roberts, recruited as a senior half in 2016, to play a utility role, turning out at fullback, centre, hooker and in the halves.

And with Kane Elgey returning from a knee injury that sidelined him for the entire 2016 season and backed by the Gold Coast as their long-term halves option with Ashley Taylor, Roberts is likely to have to come to terms with the fact that any future at the Titans will be in the utility role.
