Man finds $100,000 in his wallet

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

JUST when you thought the Gold Coast couldn’t get any luckier, another man has won a wad of cash after finding a forgotten lotto ticket in his wallet.

The retired Tweed Heads man found the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot ticket yesterday nearly two months after he bought it from Tweed City News.

The man only discovered the $100,000 prize when he went to buy an entry into this weekend’s Saturday Lotto $20 million superdraw.

“Well the ticket says it all – lucky all right,” the man, who declined to be named, said.

“I called into the newsagent on my way to the shop to get dinner. I was shaking that much, I never got dinner. Could be takeaway tonight to celebrate!”

He said it was a good time for the win to come through, helping to create a “nice buffer so I have something when I need it in the future”.

Tweed City News owner Alistair Liddemore said he was thrilled someone had claimed the prize.

“During the past two months we’ve had so many people coming in to check their tickets and asking if the winner has been found,” he said.

“We’re thrilled for our customer.”
