Groped by Gumtree buyer in own home

A TEENAGER has described her harrowing ordeal after being groped by a Gumtree buyer in her own home.

Last year 27-year-old Sam Mechkor arrived at the young woman’s house which she shared with her mother to pick up an X-Box the young woman, who cannot be named, had placed on Gumtree.

In an interview with Channel 9, the then 17-year-old had bent over to pat her dog when Mechkor told her she had a sexy body.

“He stepped forward and touched my chest,” she said.

“I told him no and I stepped back ... he laughed in my face, stepped forward and did it again.

“My back was against the wall, I could not get away from him.”

She said the encounter was uncomfortable from the moment Mechkor arrived, allowing himself to take a seat on her couch.

“He was just sitting on the couch and I was like ‘oh, oh right then ... that’s a bit strange’,” she said.

When she asked Mechkor for the money, she said he responded by “putting his wallet at his crotch” and telling her to “come and get it”. Mechkor left after paying. The woman’s mother found her shaken and crying.

“I thought by saying no, and telling him to leave he’d go and not do it again,” she said.

“It was in my house. It was in a place where I am supposed to feel safe.”

Mechkor was sentenced to a 12-month probation and 60 hours community service at Southport District Court after pleading guilty.
