Gunning for a fine
A MAN who waltzed into police station carrying a boltaction rifle in each hand has triggered a stern warning from authorities.
Darwin police said the man had no malicious intent when he brought the weapons in for inspection and licence renewal, but he was slapped with a $655 fine for carrying the exposed firearms in a public place.
“If for any reason you need to take a firearm to a police station, please ensure they are suitably contained in a gun case or another legally appropriate covering, or a blanket,” Sergeant Leif Hovland said yesterday.
