GROOMING CLASSES DIANE’S NEW PET PROJECT

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND amanda.robbemond@news.com.au

GOLD Coast residents soon won’t have to worry about taking their long-haired pooch to the parlour every 10 weeks to get a trim and clip.

Train2Groom owner Diane Agar is offering locals the chance to learn how to groom their own pets – whether they are cavaliers, german shepherds, cocker spaniels or poodles – without the hefty price tag attached to a lifetime of grooming appointments.

“People don’t realise how expensive it is to get their dog groomed,” Ms Agar said. “Over 15 years, you’re probably looking at $6000.”

For $250 per three-hour session, owners will learn how to bathe, blow dry and give a simple clip to their hairy pets.

Ms Agar said when she used to groom at her previous business, people always used to ask her where they could learn to groom their own pet.

She said there didn’t appear to be anywhere for locals to learn some basics in grooming, unless they wanted to pay thousands earning a certificate in grooming.
