Coach will give young guns shot at big time

-

“We are playing a few youngsters. If Steven May doesn’t play (against Richmond tomorrow) then Max Spencer may play.

“It will be his first game which will be before his time really. (Draftee) Jack Scrimshaw last week wasn’t quite ready yet we don’t think in his development but he showed some good signs so we will certainly keep playing some young lads as much as we can.

“We won’t be playing players to say, ‘listen this is your last chance’. We know what they can and can’t do.”

The players have stood firm behind Eade who believes solidarity and continuity within the playing group will help the club finally push further up the ladder in 2018.

“Every club talks about solidarity and keeping that continuity,” Eade said.

“There are still some things we need to improve and we are heading down that path.

“If we can just have players have that continuity of games and shared experience of being able to play together ... I’m confident, if we can get a good run at it, that we can push up.”

“There are some good signs, we are educating well and their attitude is terrific so we just need a bit of continuity.”

Former St Kilda and Sydney star Peter “Spida” Everitt backed potential plans to overhaul part of the list.

“In any premiership side the second-tier players are the ones that make the difference,” Everitt said.

“The ones at the Suns have had more than enough opportunity to have an impact.”
