Sugar link to moods
EATING too much sugar could put men at greater risk of anxiety and depression.
Scientists have found that people who consumed more than 67g of sugar a day had a 23 per cent higher chance of mental illness than those taking fewer than 39.5g. A 500ml bottle of Coca-Cola has about 49g of sugar. It is unclear why the study found no link between sugar intake and mood disorders in women.
The study ruled out the possibility that the results can be explained by unhappy men comforting themselves with sugary treats.
