BEAUDESERT WRAP WITH UBET’S NICOLE THOMAS

-

WINNERS

■ The biggest successful bet of the day was on Choice Princess. UBET opened $2.60 but that quickly dried up and she reached as short as $1.60 before bouncing back to $1.90. One keen punter placed $3000 on her at $1.70. The 6YO mare box seated in the four horse field, took the lead in the straight and trounced them.

The only other horse fancied by punters was the locally trained Rocky Nugget. The 4YO opened $7 but drifted to as far as $12. That’s when the penny finally dropped with punters and he jumped $8. It was an impressive win from well back when he circled the field to win going away.

LOSERS

In one of the biggest plunges at Beaudesert, punters took $7 about Mobile and made him start $3.80. The 3YO, ran on well for fifth but just couldn’t pick them up in the straight.

■ Majestic Shadow was backed like he couldn’t be beaten, opening $7 and starting $3.40. The 4YO gelding settled fourth on the fence but looked to get caught behind some slow horses when he needed to make his run. He finally cut the corner but Australian Pharoah had the momentum.

NEXT TIME

■ There was a severe lack of interest in A New Sound from the wide barrier and she blew from $4 out to $9. The barrier did get the better of the 6YO mare as she got caught wide. She stuck on well after the tough run and deserves another chance.

Sidetrip was not short of punter support, opening at $7 and backed in to $4.40. He over raced at the back of the field but still finished second. Deserves another chance.

■ Plenty of punters wanted a piece of the Toowoomba visitor Allorian. The $14 was quickly snapped up and the 4YO mare started $4.60. She couldn’t muster enough speed early and tried to sneak through on the fence. Unfortunately there was no room there and she couldn’t be fully ridden out.
