THERE’S LOTS OF EXCITING ACTION ON HORIZON

- MATTHEW BUCHANAN

Popular children’s author Scott Westerfeld has done it again with his latest fantastic novel jam-packed with drama, mystery and adventure Year 6

St Kevin’s, Benowa Title: Horizon Author: Scott Westerfeld Publisher: Scholastic ★★★★

WOW, what an action-packed book by fantastic author Scott Westerfeld.

He is the best-selling author of the Uglies series and coauthor of the Leviathan series and the Zeroes series.

He has also written many other stories for young readers.

The message of Horizon is to never give up, no matter how much you’re struggling.

The characters were faced with the challenge of trying to find out where they were after an aeroplane crash, and trying to find a way to get home.

A group of four engineers are on their way to Tokyo to defend their US championship of robot soccer.

Nothing really turned out as planned. Their plane crashed and they were stuck in a strange land, not knowing their location or how to get home.

This story kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat right to the last page.

The way the book ended left it open for another book and a whole new series.

The style in which Westerfeld wrote this book definitely suited me and I’m sure it would suit others with similar interests such as drama, mystery and adventure.

One of the main things that kept me turning the pages was I wanted to know what was going to happen next.

Westerfeld has the ability to keep the reader interested. A good example of this was how he kept the reader wanting to find out if the characters were ever going to make it out.

The strength of the book was the fact it had lots of action, even though at times the characters were sitting around doing nothing because of what happens in the story.

I rate this book four out of five stars because it was very intriguing and adventurous.

I would recommend this to boys and girls from 10 to 13 years of age because normally, that age group likes books that contain drama and are filled with action and mystery.
