Revamp sees Shooters party day and night

- RYAN KEEN

A REVIVED Glitter Strip nightclub institution is planning a “complementary” daytime operation now it has killed off a deal to sell everything used to run it.

Surfers Paradise venue Shooters faced being stripped of anything “not bolted down” in an asset sales deal inked by a former operator.

But after court action examining the validity of the deal it is no longer going ahead and the nightclub’s new operator is planning a revamp of the front bar space.

Spokesman Trevor Park, a representative of The Mark Centre where Shooters is located on Orchid Ave, said he looked forward to revealing the venue’s latest offering.

“All we can say at this stage is it involves the front bar and will reposition the venue to become a daytime as well as a night-time destination,” Mr Park said.

He said Shooters would “still be a night-time venue with a complementary daytime offering”.

“We have an exciting announcement to make about the venue in the coming weeks.

“Shooters ... continues to exceed our expectations terms of growth.”

The long-running Orchid Ave venue faced losing everything inside – including tables, chairs, sound systems and lighting – because of an asset sales agreement inked last year by the club’s former operating company Shooters JV Pty Ltd which was put into liquidation.

Rival venue boss Tim Martin, general manager of Bedroom in and Sin City nightclubs across the road, had agreed to buy the equipment for $99,000.

But Shooters’ new operating company – whose majority owner is landlord Hagop Didizian’s firm Hachma International (Australia) – challenged the validity of the deal.

The latest liquidators report reveals that court action was withdrawn and the equipment sale would not proceed.
