REGARDING Joan of Benowa’s letter (GCB, 2/8) about her cafe visit.

I know the cafe she lunched at and know the waitress she spoke to and know about the signs. First, the cafe is in Biggera Waters; second, the signs do not mention dogs; and thirdly, I have lunch there nearly daily and take my dog with me.

There are two signs that ask patrons who have pets with them to consider other diners who might not like dining with animals close by, and the signs were erected when the cafe provided evening meals from Wednesday to Sunday under the previous proprietor.

I am an ex-serviceman who uses a walker to get about and I live across the road from the Metro

Market Shopping Centre where that particular cafe is.

I mentioned Joan’s comment to the waitress who served my coffee and she said she was the person who was asked about the signs.

If Joan wants to discuss pets in outdoor dining areas I will shout her a cuppa.

My walker is decorated with a few stickers that refer to Vietnam veterans and our beautiful wide brown land so it is easy to see. WOULD be interesting to know if an acquaintance or family member of someone in government, local or state, has acquired the maintenance contract for the absurd glass/ Perspex tops of the sound baffle wall installed alongside the light rail all the way along Smith St. Would be worth a pretty penny. I guess the next thing will be to supply those local bikes at various locations around the Coast, but before you get one of your relies to do so, I suggest you approach Brisbane City Council for their surplus, which I’m sure you would/should get at bargain basement price. TIME for Australia’s head swimming coach Jacco Verhaeren to go.

We are sick of all the excuses, we want results. One year into a four-year cycle.

Half these swimmers won’t be around in another three years. The Yanks, Poms, Russians, Chinese and others are winning and breaking world records. MATT, your letter (GCB, 3/8) regarding car rego “most expensive in Australia”.

I have three cars and rego is $300 each plus insurance total $704 each. My mum in Sydney pays $485 for rego and a whopping $900 for insurance or what they call a green slip plus $80 for annual road worthy that’s $1465.

Don’t know where your information comes from, Matt, but you want to get your facts straight. PREMIER Palaszczuk, you said jobs, money and roofs over people’s heads was the reason for the go ahead for the Adani mine.

So why do you continually knock back Gold Coast projects that would provide jobs, money and roofs over people’s heads?

Hopefully it’s not a political decision, if so it’s a foolish one, as most Gold Coast people are for progress.
