FREEZING conditions in Australia and across the Tasman are warming the hearts of the top brass at outdoorwea­r retailer Kathmandu.

The group is enjoying strong winter sales growth in Australia and New Zealand, which it says will boost its fullyear profit by as much as 13.4 per cent.

Kathmandu, which is listed in both countries, expects net profit for the year to July to be between $NZ37.4-$NZ38 million ($34.8-$35.4 million), up from $NZ33.5 million in 2016.

Earnings before interest and tax are expected to come in between $NZ56-$NZ57 million, with group sales up $NZ19.7 million on a year ago, it said yesterday.

Kathmandu shares closed flat yesterday at $2.10.
