Marine fighting for life

A US Marine remained fighting for his life in a “critical” condition last night after the military aircraft crash that killed three others during a training exercise.

A Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diving team face the grisly task of recovering the bodies of the three Marines believed to be trapped at a depth of 50m in the submerged wreckage, about 30km off Shoalwater Bay, Rockhampto­n.

Defence Minister Marise Payne last night confirmed HMAS Melville had located the wreckage of the USMC MV-22 Osprey.
