WRECKING NOW: BUS DEPOT PLAN FOR GAMES

THE Transport Department has spent more than $9 million buying up an iconic wrecking yard only to abandon plans to use it as a bus depot for the Commonweal­th Games.

Two of the four blocks bought at the back of Will “the Wrecker” Smith’s Reedy Creek site are swamp land, making the property only suitable for storage.

The Bulletin can also reveal that a contract to double the park and ride facility at Varsity Lakes train station is yet to be awarded despite being advertised in late 2015.
