THE Transport Department has spent more than $9 million buying up an iconic wrecking yard only to abandon plans to use it as a bus depot for the Commonwealth Games.
Two of the four blocks bought at the back of Will “the Wrecker” Smith’s Reedy Creek site are swamp land, making the property only suitable for storage.
