OPEN DAYS AT SCU

SCU is keen to show everyone the exciting opportunit­ies that await on their campuses

SOUTHERN Cross University will welcome the community to a series of Open Days this month.

The days – Gold Coast on August 13, Lismore on August 20, and Coffs Harbour and National Marine Science Centre both on August 27 – will showcase the study options, campus features and the possibilit­ies of where a Southern Cross University

degree can take you.

The university’s newest and fastest-growing campus, the Gold Coast, has superb views of the ocean and the Hinterland, and is next door to the Gold Coast Airport.

Open Day sessions include: Big Data - Friend or Foe; and Tourism Opportunit­ies and Challenges in PNG.

SCU was the first in Australia to offer a bachelor qualificat­ion in pedorthics, the design and manufactur­e of footwear to alleviate problems caused by disease or injury, at the Gold Coast campus and has the largest pedorthics lab in the southern hemisphere.

Tour the podiatry, pedorthics, exercise science, biomedical science, midwifery, nursing and other allied health labs such as occupation­al therapy and speech pathology.

SCU also has degrees in business, IT, law, social work/ social welfare and education at the Gold Coast campus.

Indigenous activities at Open Day include Bundjalung language workshops, basket weaving workshops, smoking ceremony and yarning circles.

Entertainm­ent will include bands, a petting zoo, a jumping castle and zorb roller balls.

SCU vice-president Allan Morris said the university was excited to open its doors to the community.

“Each Open Day event gives future students a personalis­ed experience to suit their interests and discover their future potential,” he said.
