Catapult’s base grows

-

ASX-LISTED sports technology group Catapult has snapped up two products from a Brisbane rival for $1.9 million.

Catapult has bought the SportsMed Elite and Baseline athlete management systems – both have an existing global customer base – from SMG Technologies.

Catapult develops wearable sensors for athletes and translates the data for coaches. It has the AFL’s Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn and the NRL’s Cronulla Sharks among its clients.

AFL players wearing its device provide more than 1000 data points every second.

Catapult said the new assets would allow it to offer teams a centralised data and analytics platform on which to combine a wide range of data fields.

Shares in Catapult fell 6.5¢ to $1.905 yesterday.
