THIS half-boat, half-bike hybrid has emerged as the latest mode of transport for tours on the Gold Coast.
The vessel is replacing kayaks on Seaway Waterbike Tours, giving visitors a unique experience of the Gold Coast waterways, and a healthy cardio workout to boot.
Owner-operator Andres Quijada said the head-turning machines had proven a hit with tourists since he introduced them earlier this year after spotting them online being used overseas.
“They’re super stable, they’re more powerful than a kayak and it’s a good work-out,” he said.
“You can cover long distances and you can reach places you can’t reach with a conventional boat.
“The tours are proving really successful. It’s actually easier than riding a road bike.”
