Centrelink not hiring

-

CENTRELINK has no plans to add extra services or staff to cope with an influx of job seekers once Commonwealth Games jobs wrap up next year.

Construction contractors working on the athlete’s village, road upgrades and light rail will be out of work early next year, along with 1500 direct employees of Goldoc.

A statement from the Department of Employment said it had been “working with labour market stakeholders on the Gold Coast” but that “no specific post-Commonwealth Games employment initiatives are planned by the Department of Employment.”

The department said they would work “to help unemployed people access job opportunities in other major projects and initiatives developed on the Gold Coast after the Commonwealth Games” but could not say which projects or initiatives.
