SHE’S the little bear delighting staff at Sea World – and now she has the name to match.

The marine park have named their adorable polar bear cub Mishka, Inuit for ‘little bear’, after a public vote.

The name was chosen ahead of Nukka, Arina and Katya after claiming 48 per cent of the nearly 30,000 votes cast.

Mishka, who was born four months ago, now weighs 20kg and is the size of a labrador puppy.

Polar Bear Shores supervisor Tacha Mulligan said she hoped Mishka would be out on display to the public by September.

“The cub is becoming quite the inquisitive little bear and the name Mishka really suits her personality which is starting to be displayed as she explores her home at Polar Bear Shores,” she said.

“She is continuing to grow significantly in size and is enjoying exploring Cub Kindy where she spends her time with mum interacting with solid foods, toys and playing in the ice.”

Director of Marine Sciences Trevor Long said Mishka’s arrival was very welcome news because she will ensure the future of Sea World’s polar bear breeding program.
