BEN REALLY ‘WOWED’ BY TESLA

- STEPHANIE BENNETT

GLOBAL electric car company Tesla has launched its first showroom and service centre in Queensland, which features the state’s first supercharger station.

The company has three of its electric cars on display for buyers, plus home energy products such as the Tesla battery powerwall and solar panels.

Brisbane air traffic controller Ben Scully would be one of the first to take ownership from the dealer.

Mr Scully had placed an order for a Model S Tesla for about $145,000, which he expects to have in the garage by early September.

He said he had been in the market for a new car for sometime and was very impressed on his first drive of the model, which has a range of features including autopilot driving.

“The first time I got in this car I thought ‘wow, this is so smooth, and so quiet’,” he said.

“For me the environmental factors are great, but they were really an added bonus.”

The new showroom located in Fortitude Valley also boasted four supercharging bays, which allowed Tesla owners to add 270km of range in 30 minutes.
