Tomic lands a third trophy

GOLD Coast’s Sara Tomic has won her third career singles title, defeating a former top 20 player on the way.

The 19-year-old sister to Bernard Tomic aced an entry-level pro tour ITF tournament in Bangkok at the weekend, pocketing $3000.

Her father and coach John Tomic said his unseeded daughter had done well in “difficult” humid conditions and 36 degree heat, stringing together five singles victories in a row.

She had played particularly well in her semi win over Alisa Kleybanova.
