Golfers fight shutdown

THE Helensvale Community Golf Club will hold a meeting tonight to try and stop their course from being turned into a parkland.

The move comes after the Gold Coast City Council last week resolved to explore using the golf club as parkland when the lease expires mid next year.

“There was never any indication that there would be an earlier surrender of lease that would deprive members of the opportunity to use the facilities for the purposes of golf,” a Helensvale Community Golf Club spokesman said.

The group will meet at 7pm at the Helensvale Golf Club.
